GAMING KARTS 4 HOSPITALS PROJECT
The foundation has been working hard in conjunction with Gamers Outreach USA in order to allow Australian hospitals to get the use of these awesome gaming karts specially designed for use in hosptials.
Children often spend a lot of time in hospital during periods of illness and having access to a state of the art gaming unit can assist with mental health and allow the children to keep connected to friends and their passions for gaming.
These units come complete with a myriad of games, are height adjustable to suit any circumstance, and are hospital grade to assist with infection control protocols.
These gaming karts are already improving hospitalisation experiences for kids all over the world, and now Australian children can join in!

Oscar's Gaming Kart Story
"One day I was watching a YouTube video where they bought two awesome gaming karts for the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. I told my parents about these machines and how it would be great to get some for Australian hospitals. They seemed really interested in them. We contacted Gamers Outreach in the USA about bringing two machines to Australia and they were very excited about the idea of sending their first GO Karts overseas. Since my dad works for a logistics company, he was able to get a good price for shipping the GO Karts to Australia and the Chalmers Family Foundation purchased two karts with the idea to donate them to the Monash Children’s Hospital. Oscar's Letter to Lazarbeam

Hi, my name is Oscar Chalmers and I’m 11 years old. I live in Melbourne. I’ve been watching your videos for 4 years now and really like the content you produce.
As you may recall, you made a YouTube video called “Whatever you build, I will buy”. In the video I saw you give away two GO Karts to Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. I thought the machines were really great so I told my parents about them and we did some research. We contacted Gamers Outreach Program and decided to purchase two GO Karts for Monash Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. There were a few hiccups, for example, the manufacturers had to change the plug to an Australian power plug and we had organise the shipping (my Dad works in logistics so that part was pretty easy!). But the good news is, the GO Karts are due to be in the country on the 14th of May! We’ll then be testing them and getting them ready for delivery in to the Monash Children’s hospital. The reason why our family (Chalmers Family Foundation) is donating these GO Karts to the Monash Children’s Hospital is due to all the assistance we have received from the teams there over the years. My brothers, Zac and Alex, who are twins (now 14 years old) both needed help from the hospital when they were young. Alex was found to have very limited lung formation when my mum was pregnant with them, and they had to have a lot of scans to see if there was anything that could be done. The doctors really didn’t think that he would survive. When it was time for the birth there was a team of doctors in the room and Alex was rushed off to the ICU as soon as he was born. He struggled to breathe for a while but then he was okay. When they did further x-rays they found a lot of strange images but enough lung tissue to function, he was in the ICU for about a week but he is a normal 14 year old these days. Mum still calls Alex her miracle baby.
Then when Zac was 4 years old he was found to have a brain tumor which required immediate surgery to be removed. He was booked in for surgery at Monash Children’s Hospital ASAP, and the team there really looked after him. He had to be operated on a few times but the doctor managed to remove all the brain tumor and Zac is fine these days. We are still very grateful to the whole team there for what they have done for our family.
The Monash team is really excited about the GO Karts coming in and they would really like you to come to Melbourne when we deliver these to Monash Children’s Hospital! You would help get the story out and help with future fundraising I’m planning. You could teach some kids to play the games as well to cheer them up too if that would be interesting for you!!
My aim is to fundraise for more GO Karts in Victorian hospitals. Thanks for your time, and the inspiration!!!
From Oscar
ABOUT THE CHALMERS FAMILY FOUNDATION
The Chalmers Family Foundation was set up in 2020 in order to address the needs of many affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, lockdowns, and impact on social welfare. There are already an estimated 120,000 people living homeless in Australia with the number growing at an alarming rate. The foundation seeks to partner with organisations focused on assisting those living rough by providing goods and funding. The foundation also works with other organisations assisting children with illness, such as the more than 1,000 children diagnosed each year with cancer, by donating experiences, funds, and entertainment.
The foundation is overseen by Chris and Sandy Chalmers in Melbourne, Australia, operates on funds donated by the family, and receives contributions from a range of individuals and organisations within the community.
Organisations supported by the foundation include:
- The Make a Wish Foundation
- The Melbourne City Mission
- Mums Supporting Families in Need
- Dandenong Homeless Support/Launch Housing
- Monash Children's Hospital
Our mission is to work together to help improve the lives of those in need.
Our belief is that everyone deserves to be happy.
PROJECT DONATIONS
Currently the Chalmers Family Foundation is raising funds to purchase Gamers Outreach (GO) Gaming Karts (GO Karts) to deliver in to Australian hospitals to brighten the lives of children subjected to short/medium/long term hospital stays.
